Privacy policy
Last updated July 26, 2026. Plain language, no legal jargon: here is what The Ninth Atlas does and does not do with your data.
The short version
The Ninth Atlas does not require an account, does not ask for your name or email, and does not sell or share data with advertisers. The “Saved names” feature stores your picks in your own browser and never reaches our servers. We may add Google Analytics in the future to see which generators are useful; if we do, this page will say so and explain exactly what that means.
What we collect today
As of this writing, The Ninth Atlas does not run any analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. We do not collect names, emails, or any other personal information, because there is nowhere on the site to submit them. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no forms.
Saved names and your browser
When you save a generated name, it is written to your browser’s local storage on your own device. That list never gets sent to us and we have no way to see it. Clearing your browser data or using a different browser or device will clear your saved list too.
Analytics, if we add it
We are considering adding Google Analytics to understand which name generators people actually use, in general terms like page views and country-level location. If we turn it on, Google Analytics will set cookies in your browser and collect standard usage data such as your approximate location, device type, and the pages you visit. It will not collect your name, email, or anything you type into the generator. You will be able to opt out at any time using Google’s browser opt-out tool. We will update this page before or as soon as analytics goes live, not after.
Hosting and technical logs
The site is hosted on Vercel and its content database runs on Supabase. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data for security and reliability, such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps. We do not access these logs to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else.
Links to other sites
Guide pages cite outside sources, including wikis and fan sites, for lore accuracy. Those links take you off The Ninth Atlas, and this policy does not cover what happens on other people’s websites.
Children’s privacy
The Ninth Atlas is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since the site has no sign-up or data entry of any kind, there is nothing for anyone, child or adult, to submit.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, most likely by adding analytics, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not quietly expand what we collect without reflecting it here first.
